Terri Derr's ancestors began a love affair with Sarasota by escaping the harsh winters in upstate New York during the era when the Ringling Family was building mansions on the bay. In fact, her grandparents owned a home constructed by the builder of the John Ringling Hotel. Many years later Terri's father, a man of vision, re-located his own family to Sarasota where they flourished in the sunshine. It was a great place to grow up and it still is. The rich intellectual and creative environment was embraced by her family.

Private education was in demand and available in Sarasota. This privilege influenced Terri's academic success as she graduated from the University of South Florida with honors in Finance and Economics after a detour through more cultural pursuits in art history, languages and the classics.

A summer job in a Wall Street brokerage firm planted a seed that has led to a love of all things financial. After ten years in the securities industry Terri's interest inevitably turned to the practice of Real Estate as a career which combines finance, architecture, interiors and marketing. It was a natural, and has been a consuming passion for over 26 years.

Combining the energy of a marathon runner, a love of the arts, a deep commitment to community and a passion for matching people with their dreams, Terri Derr loves what she does and it is reflected in the respect and admiration of her clients and colleagues.

Awarded a lifetime membership by Mote Marine Laboratory for efforts on its behalf, Terri also enjoys participation as a board member of LaMusica International Chamber Music Festival. Both are involvements she shares with her equally dedicated husband, Frederick Derr.
