The two are proud to give to the community they love. As a Rotarian, Torrington serves a wealth of programs that rely on volunteer participation. Derr's passion for all things cultural led to close associations with LaMusica International Chamber Music Festival and Mote Marine Laboratory.

Terri Derr

Terri Derr's ancestors began a love affair with Sarasota by escaping the harsh winters in upstate New York during the era when the Ringling Family was building mansions on the bay. In fact, her grandparents owned a home constructed by the builder of the John Ringling Hotel. Many years later Terri's father, a man of vision, re-located his own family to Sarasota where they flourished in the sunshine. It was a great place to grow up and it still is. The rich intellectual and creative environment was embraced by her family.

Private education was in demand and available in Sarasota. This privilege influenced Terri's academic success as she graduated from the University of South Florida with honors in Finance and Economics after a detour through more cultural pursuits in art history, languages and the classics.

A summer job in a Wall Street brokerage firm planted a seed that has led to a love of all things financial. After ten years in the securities industry Terri's interest inevitably turned to the practice of Real Estate as a career which combines finance, architecture, interiors and marketing. It was a natural, and has been a consuming passion for over 30 years.

Combining the energy of a marathon runner, a love of the arts, a deep commitment to community and a passion for matching people with their dreams, Terri Derr loves what she does and it is reflected in the respect and admiration of her clients and colleagues.

Awarded a lifetime membership by Mote Marine Laboratory for efforts on its behalf, Terri also enjoys participation as a board member of LaMusica International Chamber Music Festival. Both are involvements she shares with her equally dedicated husband, Frederick Derr.

Ken Torrington, P.A.

Born in New York City, Ken's family spent summers at Cape Cod in Centerville on Craigville Beach. Forward-looking parents relocated the family to Sarasota in 1956 and became one of the first families to build and live in the treasured waterfront community of Coral Cove. It was a great place for a boy to grow up. If you are a long-term resident of Sarasota and the name sounds familiar to you, perhaps it is because Ken's father, Ken Torrington, also, had a career as the esteemed photographer for the Sarasota Herald Tribune. These were great genes to pass along to a child who would eventually find himself in the illustrious profession of Real Estate. Prior to his Real Estate career. Ken spent about 20 years in management with the FORTUNE 500 company that invented "customer service". This first career would prepare him well for the demands of the Real Estate profession. No one in the business does this better than Ken. He is devoted to the successful outcome of every transaction. Anticipating the needs of customers and clients, Ken keeps the process on an even keel with dignity and a gracious manner sprinkled with his well-timed sense of humor. Ken's knowledge of Sarasota combined with his love of the technology that has improved the process of buying and selling are tops in the industry.

Father of four equally successful children and a devoted husband, he finds time to be an active Rotarian, play reasonably good golf and consistently win awards for good citizenship among peers. Driven by the principle that "attitude is everything", Ken Torrington is one of the most highly respected Realtors in his profession and at all times a gentleman.
